Many characteristics of the plastic used in PCR have an influence on if a reaction will be performed at optimal condition. 

• Thickness of the tube wall has a major impact on the temperature transfer.
• Incorrect tightness of the lid or the seal can cause an evaporation of the reaction liquid.
• Differences in shape between single batches can cause a different contact surface to the cycler´s heating block.
