Published Paper: High End Gel Doc System

Continuing the week of fantastic FAS-V, we want to show you this published paper about the genome detection of Sapoviruses using the FastGene® High End Geldocumentation system.

With everyday news, the existence and possible detection methods of viruses are omnipresent.

Beside SARS-Cov-2, there are uncountable different viruses. Some of these can cause different types of diseases, like Sapoviruses which are associated with gastroenteritis in humans. The human sapovirus has 18 genotypes, which have to be detected diagnostically at all. The group of this paper, with first author Tomoichiro Oka (Department of Virology II, National Institute of Infectious Diseases, Japan) found four primer sets for detecting all subtypes. PCR reactions were analyzed in 2% agarose gels containing EtBr, which were detected by using the FAS-V gel documentation system. Beautiful pictures, shown in this paper, confirm the usage of the FAS-V for standard scientific and diagnostic applications.
